Individuals/Couples Counseling Seniors in Transition Counseling Sacred Ceremonies Officiant

Seena Russell Axel, Ph.D.
My global private psychotherapy practice is rooted in the body-breath-mind-soul connection and focuses on working with adults, couples, and, more recently, seniors in transition. People often describe my work (and my life) as “Love Made Visible.” My body-mind approach to counseling is designed to enhance self-esteem, increase awareness, expand the boundaries of consciousness, and turn challenges into manageable experiences. Below are the various services that I offer.

Professional counseling can mediate these difficult times of transition and help make life’s inevitable changes easier. As a senior professional in the field for many years, I am professionally trained to help individuals manage and heal from stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma through body-mind-spirit techniques. My methods focus on the connection between the mind and body, such as breathwork, somatic (body-based) therapies as well as spirituality. I am also an ordained healer and ceremonial officiant. Please see my services outlined below.
Sacred Ceremonies

I am ordained to conduct meaningful, individualized, sacred ceremonies for the heart and soul. These non-religious rituals are uniquely designed for all occasions, important life transitions, and special moments. They include weddings, vow renewals, women’s rites, croning ceremonies, and funerals or memorial services.
Body-Mind Modalities (Hands-On Healing)

The Rubenfeld Synergy Method (RSM) is a healing modality which combines touch and talk together to help people deal with the stresses in their lives. It uses the body as the starting point, because the body is home to our thoughts, our feelings, and our spirit. By exploring these relationships, we can claim a greater role in our own physical and emotional wellness.
Seniors in Transition

Life brings many changes in later years. Retirement from one’s life of work, moving to another state/climate/domicile, loss of a friend or spouse/partner, and even sometimes that illusion of perfect health yourself can bring up many emotions and feelings. Professional counseling can soften these difficult times of transition and help make life’s inevitable changes easier to flow through.
Reiki Healing

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are capable of being happy and healthy.
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, through a combination of classical yoga techniques and elements of contemporary body-mind psychology, encourages a deeper connection with self. A Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy session is a one-on-one hands-on healing process.
Other Services

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a form of psychotherapy that was developed to resolve symptoms resulting from disturbing and unresolved life experiences.
