The Peacock Crone In ancient times, Hag meant Wise Woman and was spoken as a compliment. In the same way, Crone was the name of the female village elder, the older healer, the wise counselor. The Crone, the Wise One, has appeared in dreams, in art and visions, in the guise of a raven, crying “Wake Up! Wake Up! It’s Time!”
